Early Life
Father Curtis Louis Cardone and mother Concetta Neil Cardone had Grant Cardone on March 21, 1958, in Louisiana. His parents were early 1900s Italian immigrants to America. Gary, his twin brother, was one of four brothers. He was 20 when his older brother died.
At 42, Grant’s father, a successful stockbroker, died when Grant was 10. Since he was the breadwinner, his mother sold their lakeside mansion and relocated to the city for their future. Grant broke the family’s rapid economic decline broke Grant. Grant told his mother he would become rich and “grow out of middle-class segregation” if they were struggling financially.
Grant was expelled from high school for being a troublemaker and being outspoken. Grant has attended college since his mother promised his father to send all their children. He started drinking and doing drugs to stay in college. He graduated from McNeese State University with an accounting major and a $40,000 student loan.
Grant found a job as a car seller. The job disappointed and underperformed him. He kept doing drugs and living in a small apartment in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with his dog, Capo. At the age of 23, a close friend robbed him. He was beaten and left to die at the main door. His then-girlfriend hospitalised him for three days and gave him 70 head stitches. The incident left his mother unable to recognize him when he visited her.
Grant failed multiple times to quit drugs shortly prior to the incident. He was 25 when his mother told him to cease coming and avoid her business unless he resigned. Grant attended a rehab center immediately. The center kept him sober for 29 days, until his insurance ran out.
As he prepared to return to his old life, his counselor advised him to give up his ambitions of fame and money and focus on “not using drugs” to avoid returning to the treatment center. It lowered his self-esteem.
After returning, he committed to sales. He read and watched sales training videos to improve himself. For sales training, he borrowed $3000 from his mother. He started earning 3000–4000 dollars in sales commissions, which drove him to improve. By 30, he was a millionaire.

Controversy
In 2021, Los Angeles entrepreneur Luis Pino sued Grant Cardone, alleging that Cardone Capital, Grant’s company in which he invested, misled him. The corporation was accused of ignoring SEC enforcement lawyer orders to delete false representations about monthly payout investors earning a 15% yearly return. Pino failed to prove that Cardone had made substantial misstatements and omissions concerning a 15% annual rate of return on any investments, thus U.S. District Judge John F. Walter dismissed the complaint.
